STUDIO POLICIES
The following details all policies which concern current and future students of this piano studio. These policies are applied equally to all students and families; by taking lessons with me, you agree to abide by them. I am happy to discuss any questions or concerns that you may have at any time.
LESSON LANGUAGE
Please note that all lessons are conducted in English.
BILLING
Individual Lessons - $55
60-minute Individual lessons can be booked via my online calendar. They can only be scheduled within the current month, subject to availability.
Monthly Tuition Lessons
Payment is due in advance at the start of each month, no later than the 5th day of the month. The monthly tuition is a consistent flat rate and does not vary based on the number of lessons in that month.
Payments can be made via Interac-eTransfer to willem.piano@gmail.com or in cash.
If you are owed a refund, the amount will either be deducted from the next month’s bill or issued via an Interac e-Transfer. One cancelled lesson is equal to a fraction of that month’s bill, based on the number of lessons in that month. For example, if there are 5 lessons in a month, the cancellation fee will be 1/5th of the total monthly fee. Note: This applies only to teacher-cancelled lessons that were not rescheduled; for student cancellations, please refer to the “Cancelled Lessons” section for details.

THE CALENDAR
Monthly Tuition lessons take place weekly and are divided into three terms. There are six weeks of holiday breaks and forty-six weeks of lessons per year. Please note that lessons will be held on holidays which fall outside of the breaks listed below:
Winter Term: January 6th - June 1st 2025
Easter break: April 15th - 21st
Summer Term: June 2nd - August 31st 2025
Summer break: July 25th - August 7th
Fall Term: September 1st - December 21st 2025
Thanksgiving break: October 13th - 19th
Christmas break: December 22nd - January 4th
CANCELLED LESSONS AND RESCHEDULING
Student-cancelled lessons are not refunded but can be rescheduled. Refunds are offered for lessons which were cancelled by me and were not rescheduled.
To reschedule a lesson, cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Lessons can be rescheduled once within 6 days of the original lesson time, subject to availability.
Please stay home if you are sick or have flu or cold like symptoms and contact me to reschedule.
CONTACT
Texting is generally the best method of communication for me. I will do my best to respond to all messages within 24 hours.
RECITAL
All students are welcome and encouraged to participate in an annual recital, although it is not mandatory. A small reception is held immediately afterwards and everyone is invited to contribute a homemade or purchased snack! Students’ families and friends are invited to support the event via a pay-what-you-can ticket program.
TERMINATION
You are free to terminate lessons permanently at any time and for any reason. If you do so before the end of the month, you will not be refunded for the remainder of the month’s tuition. If you do so before a scheduled individual lesson takes place, you will not be refunded for the lesson.
